A vehicle inspection centre has a numbered list of the 1500 cars it tested last month. An inspector chooses a sample by picking one of the first 10 cars on the list at random and then taking every 10th car after it, giving a sample of 150 cars.
Explain why this method does not give every possible sample of 150 cars an equal chance of being selected.
Give one practical advantage of this method over simple random sampling.
