OCR A Level History (H505) is a Level 3 qualification regulated by Ofqual, taken by students aged 16–18. It covers british political and social history, european history from the medieval to modern periods, revolutions, monarchies and constitutional change, the rise of dictatorships and totalitarian states, empire, war and international relations, historical interpretations and historiographical debate, and an independently researched historical enquiry, with a strong focus on with a strong focus on evaluating primary sources and comparing historians' differing interpretations. The course is a linear qualification graded A*-E, typically 360 guided learning hours, with first assessment in 2017.
