"During dehydration, the decreased water potential of the blood is detected by baroreceptors in the cerebellum. In response, these receptors trigger nerve impulses that stimulate the anterior pituitary gland to secrete antidiuretic hormone (ADH). ADH travels in the blood to the kidneys, where it binds to specific receptors on the cells of the loop of Henle. This causes vesicles containing aquaporins to fuse with the cell-surface membrane, decreasing the permeability of the cells to water and resulting in a larger volume of more concentrated urine."
