Current makes magnetic fields

Magnetic field patterns for a straight wire, a flat circular coil, and a solenoid with labels and arrows

Electromagnetism links electricity and magnetism: moving charge produces magnetic fields. Current III is the flow of electric charge, measured in amps (A), and a current-carrying conductor creates a magnetic field around itself.

  1. IGCSE
  2. /Physics
  3. /Electromagnetism

Step-by-step lessons covering Edexcel IGCSE Physics Electromagnetism for IGCSE Physics. Each lesson works through exam-style questions in Paper 1 and Paper 2 format. Build a strong foundation in mechanics and electricity before tackling the more mathematically demanding astrophysics and nuclear topics.
