Two solid spheres are made of different materials. Four different methods are suggested to compare their masses:

  1. Slide each sphere down the same frictionless inclined plane and compare their accelerations.
  2. Measure the volume of water displaced when each sphere is fully submerged in a graduated cylinder.
  3. Apply the same horizontal force to each sphere on a frictionless table and compare their accelerations.
  4. Place one sphere in the left-hand pan of a beam balance and the other sphere in the right-hand pan.
