What is an energy resource?

What is an energy resource?

Concept map of energy resources with arrows from the Sun to fossil fuels, biofuels, wind, waves, hydroelectricity and solar cells, plus a solar heating label, while geothermal, nuclear and tidal are shown separate

An energy resource is a source from which useful energy can be obtained, or from which electrical power can be generated. Power is the rate of energy transfer, measured in watts, where 1 W=1 J/s1 \, \text{W} = 1 \, \text{J/s}1W=1J/s.
