The big idea

The big idea

Bar magnet being pushed into a coil connected to a centre-zero galvanometer, with no deflection when the magnet is still

Electromagnetic induction means producing an e.m.f. by changing how a magnetic field links with a conductor. This can happen when a conductor moves across magnetic field lines, or when the magnetic field through a coil changes.
