What does the gradient of a straight line measure?
The length of the line (the distance between the two endpoints of the line segment).
The height of the line (the value of yyy where the line crosses the yyy-axis).
The steepness of the line (how much yyy changes for each increase of 1 in xxx).
The position of the line (how far the line is from the origin of the graph).
