Reading gradient and intercept

Coordinate graph showing the line y = 2x + 3, the y-intercept at (0,3), a gradient triangle with rise 2 and run 1, and a parallel line y = 2x - 1

Straight lines are usually written as y=mx+cy=mx+cy=mx+c. Here mmm is the gradient and ccc is the y-intercept, which is where the line crosses the y-axis.
