Question 219

Your local council is preparing a time capsule that will be opened in 50 years. Anyone who lives, works or studies in the town may contribute one side of A4 showing one feature of everyday life now. The page may use writing, a drawing or a copy of a photograph. It must identify the local area represented and explain why the chosen subject matters.

Contributors must not send original or valuable items. They must not include private information about another person without permission. As space is limited, a panel will choose a varied selection of pages for the time capsule. However, every suitable submission will be copied into a public digital collection. The deadline and submission details will be available from local libraries and the council website.

Write the text for a leaflet explaining how to contribute, helping readers make suitable choices and encouraging people of different ages and experiences to take part.

Your work will be assessed on communication and adaptation to audience and purpose (27 marks), and organisation and technical accuracy (18 marks).
