Question 27

Your school library is starting a lunchtime reading club. It will meet in the library every Wednesday. There is no charge and students do not have to attend every week. They may bring their own book or choose one from the library, and nobody will be required to read aloud.

Write the text for a leaflet for students introducing the reading club, showing what it offers and persuading readers to try a Wednesday meeting.

You should include:

  • what students can do at the club
  • why they might enjoy or benefit from attending
  • reassurance for students who are uncertain about joining
  • practical information about taking part.

Your work will be assessed on communication and adaptation to audience and purpose (27 marks), and organisation and technical accuracy (18 marks).
