The labels among the leaves
I was asked to prepare a complete inventory of the greenhouse collection. Some temporary labels had been pushed into the soil behind the pots, with their writing facing the wall. Condensation had spread the pencil writing on several others. The bench plan recorded the arrangement used before the staff moved the collection. In one aisle, loose labels lay between neighbouring pots, making it unclear where they belonged. Staff also continued transferring trays from one bench to another while I worked, so plants changed position after I had recorded them.
Describe the difficulties of producing a complete and accurate inventory of the plants. You may support your points with brief quotations.
