Question 14

The attendance summaries

A museum committee tried to compare attendance summaries from two exhibitions. The first summary covered four weeks, while the second covered twelve. For the first exhibition, staff counted each entry through the door, so a returning visitor could be counted again; for the second, each ticket holder was counted once. Pre-booked school groups were included in the first total but listed separately and left out of the second total. Figures in the first summary were rounded to the nearest hundred, whereas the second gave exact totals. On several days in the second summary, the note 'closed early' appeared without a closing time.

Describe the problems with comparing the two attendance summaries. You may support your points with brief quotations.
