Question 14

The noticeboard after rain

By the time I reached the community garden, the noticeboard was dripping from the night's rain. Several sheets had become sodden, and the bottom edge of one was curled away from the wood. The caretaker had pinned a clear plastic cover over the centre, but water still gathered along its lower seam. I had come to read the planting schedule; instead, I studied the board's damaged papers.

Select two separate words or phrases in the passage that show the condition of the notices when the writer arrived.
