The motor among the leaves
Original opinion extract, written for practice.
The pavement is clear, and I am grateful not to slip on wet leaves. I am less grateful for the machine which announces that achievement outside my window before the morning has properly begun. Its operator moves the leaves quickly, then returns when the wind brings some of them back. I know a broom is not a magical answer to every street, and the person doing the work has a timetable which I have never had to meet. Could we discuss the hour and the method before deciding that anyone who dislikes the noise must prefer a dangerous pavement? There is a space between neglecting a job and applauding every way of doing it. That space ought to contain a conversation, if we can hear one another.
Use your own words to evaluate the writer’s attitude to using leaf blowers in shared spaces. Give details from the extract to justify your answer.
