Original opinion extract, written for practice.

The invitation arrived at nine in the morning. At eleven, a second message asked whether I had seen it. By lunch, the organiser explained that it only took a second to say yes or no. Typing either word would indeed have been quick. Knowing which one was true required checking a shift, speaking to somebody at home and deciding whether I could manage the journey. I appreciate being invited, and I understand that a booking needs numbers. Give me a date by which those numbers are needed. Do not confuse the speed of a message with the speed of the decision it carries. An immediate answer may be less considerate than a later one if it is merely a promise made to stop the phone asking.

Use your own words to evaluate the writer’s attitude to demanding rapid replies to invitations. Give details from the extract to justify your answer.
