The covered name
Original fiction extract.
The parcel game was ready except for one thing: my name showed through the wrapping. I had written it on the box before remembering that nobody was supposed to know who had brought each gift. My cousin concealed the writing beneath a broad strip of silver paper. She did not change the parcel or remove its contents. At the party, three people guessed it was mine because of the uneven bow. The silver strip had done its job; my attempt at ribbon had supplied another clue.
