Paws on the moon
Original fiction extract.
The moon landscape took our group three afternoons. We shaped craters in grey paper and placed a tiny landing craft beside a foil flag. On the morning of the exhibition, the classroom cat stepped through the open window and inspected it. She crossed the moon with the untroubled authority of its landlord. One paw crushed a crater edge; another moved the flag. She sat beside the landing craft and began washing her shoulder. We stood around the table, holding glue and photographs, while the first visitors admired the unexpectedly large astronaut.
Choose one example from the extract and explain how the writer uses language to suggest the cat’s attitude towards the model landscape. Use your own words in your explanation.
