The Scottish archipelago of Orkney is served by a single air transport provider, Orkney SkyLink (OSL). It is the only airline serving the islands and connecting them to the mainland. People living there do not have many regular travel options. The transport network remained independent when most other regional networks merged to become National Airways, and it has remained as a separate company to this day.

As well as passenger flights, OSL also offers freight and car rental deals which are available at a discounted price when purchased together. It will soon offer premium terminal lounge packages. Its transport is fast, with modern regional aircraft which can complete mainland journeys in under 45 minutes. However, these flights are not available during all weather conditions and OSL's ticket prices are more expensive than similar regional routes in the rest of the country. This is especially true as they have low luggage allowances.
