Equations, balancing and state symbols
Equations, balancing and state symbols
A word equation names the substances in a reaction, while a symbol equation uses chemical formulae. A balanced equation has the same number of each type of atom on both sides because atoms are rearranged, not created or destroyed.
Step-by-step lessons covering Edexcel IGCSE Chemistry Chemical formulae, equations and calculations for IGCSE Chemistry. Each lesson works through exam-style questions in Paper 1 and Paper 2 format. Build a solid grasp of atomic structure, bonding and the mole concept early, since these underpin almost every other topic, then move on to the more calculation-heavy quantitative and organic chemistry content.
