Organisational structures

An organisational chart shows the roles, management levels and lines of authority in a business. A tall hierarchical structure has several management levels and a narrow span of control. A flat structure has relatively few management levels and a wide span of control, meaning that each manager may have several direct reports. Organisational charts help identify whether decisions are concentrated at the top or shared more widely.
