Question 36

The following passage describes protein synthesis.

Complete the passage by writing a suitable word or words on each dotted line.

During the first stage, DNA is used as a template to make a single-stranded molecule of messenger RNA. This stage is known as ‾\underline{\hspace{3cm}}.

This process takes place inside the ‾\underline{\hspace{3cm}} of the cell.

The messenger RNA then leaves and attaches to a protein-making organelle called a ‾\underline{\hspace{3cm}} in the cytoplasm.

Each group of three bases on the messenger RNA is called a ‾\underline{\hspace{3cm}}.

Each of these groups codes for a specific ‾\underline{\hspace{3cm}}.

These subunits are brought to the organelle by molecules of ‾\underline{\hspace{3cm}} and are joined together to form a polypeptide.
