The passage below describes the stage of protein synthesis known as translation.

Complete the passage by writing a suitable word or words on each dotted line.

Translation begins when the mRNA molecule binds to a ribosome in the cytoplasm. Molecules of ‾\underline{\hspace{3cm}}​ are responsible for carrying specific amino acids to the ribosome.

Each of these carrier molecules has a specific triplet of bases called an ‾\underline{\hspace{3cm}}​ that aligns with a complementary codon on the mRNA strand.

When two amino acids are aligned next to each other, an enzyme-catalysed reaction joins them together via a ‾\underline{\hspace{3cm}}​ bond.

The ribosome, which is made of proteins and ‾\underline{\hspace{3cm}}​, moves along the mRNA to translate the next codon.

This sequential addition of amino acids builds a growing polymer called a ‾\underline{\hspace{3cm}}​ chain.

The elongation of this chain terminates when the ribosome encounters a ‾\underline{\hspace{3cm}}​ codon, releasing the completed protein.
