A psychologist interviews 20 adults who volunteer at a community food bank about why they volunteer. Every volunteer is asked the same questions in the same words and in the same order. Ten volunteers are interviewed by an interviewer who speaks warmly and smiles, and the other ten by an interviewer who keeps a neutral tone and expression. Most of the warm interviewer's volunteers say they volunteer to help others, while the neutral interviewer's volunteers more often mention reasons such as gaining work experience or meeting new people.
Explain how the interviewers' contrasting styles could affect the psychologist's conclusions about why the volunteers take part.
