A psychologist investigates whether phone notifications affect puzzle solving. Forty adults visit a university room one at a time. Each completes 10 logic puzzles on a tablet while a phone on the desk either plays a notification sound every minute or stays silent. Every participant hears the same recorded instructions, and the number of puzzles solved in 15 minutes is recorded.
