A psychologist investigates whether vigorous activity affects concentration. Pupils who attend a lunchtime dance club complete a task immediately after dancing, while different pupils from a lunchtime chess club complete the same task after playing chess. The psychologist records the number of target symbols each pupil crosses out correctly in two minutes. Afterwards, the psychologist reads the scores aloud and tells the lowest-scoring pupils, in front of the others, that they have poor concentration.
