A psychologist compares two ways of taking notes. One group has six minutes to write notes by hand while reading a 400-word text about volcanoes. A second group has six minutes to type notes while reading the same text. Each pupil then completes the same 15-question test. There is no previous research suggesting which method will lead to a higher score.
A pupil writes the following prediction:
‘The way pupils take notes affects how well they do on a test.’
Rewrite the prediction as an operationalised, non-directional hypothesis for this investigation.
