Question 95

Adults agree to take part in a study after being told what the task involves and about its possible risks. They complete very difficult puzzles while a researcher repeatedly tells them that their answers are poor. Before the task, the researcher tells them that they may stop at any time. After the task, the researcher explains the study, checks their welfare and offers support.

Using the information above, explain which part of this procedure raises an ethical issue, and why one of the steps the researcher takes before or after the task is not an ethical issue itself.
