A researcher investigates whether being watched affects performance on a spatial puzzle. Each adult first completes a 30-piece puzzle alone and then completes a matched 30-piece puzzle while a group watches. During the second puzzle, members of the group laugh whenever the participant puts a piece in the wrong place. The researcher records the number of seconds taken to complete each puzzle.
