Question 9

A small group of warehouse workers with lived experience of depression records the same short message for staff meetings once a month for six months. The message says that depression is not simply ordinary sadness that a person could snap out of if they tried. Aisha hears the recordings and privately accepts this view. Later, most workers at the warehouse accept the message. Ben starts asking colleagues how they are coping in front of others, but privately still thinks depression is ordinary sadness.

Using the source, explain why Aisha and Ben may respond differently to the messages. In your answer, state which response is more likely to result from minority influence, which is more likely to result from majority influence, and explain which response is more likely to continue when other workers are not watching.
