A youth service is considering two ways of using the findings of NatCen's (2011) study of the Tottenham riots. The first is to discuss with local youth groups the factors that young people in Tottenham said had encouraged or discouraged their involvement. The second is to predict that a particular young person in another city will take part in a future riot because they have poor job prospects and negative experiences of the police.
Explain two methodological reasons why the youth service should be cautious about using the findings, then justify which of the two proposed uses is better supported by NatCen's study.
