What incidence measures
What incidence measures
Incidence can refer to the number of new onsets of a condition in a population during a set period, such as one year, or to the number of cases that are newly identified or recorded during that period, depending on the dataset. In the unqualified sense, incidence usually means new onsets. It is different from prevalence, which is the total number of people who have a condition at a particular time or during a period.
