Question 11

In a Year 8 science lesson, pupils are given only a written description of a ramp and a toy car. Before any testing, they must write a hypothesis stating how raising the ramp would change the distance the car travels, and explain their reasoning. A teacher wants to set the same task for a Year 4 class, aged 8 to 9.

Using Piaget's theory, explain what the teacher should expect if the Year 4 class is given this task, and how the task could be adapted for them.
