Personality and criminality
Personality and criminality
Eysenck (1964) proposed that biologically based differences in nervous-system functioning shape personality and affect how readily people are conditioned through punishment. People who are less easily conditioned may be less likely to associate antisocial behaviour with anxiety, so socialisation and the development of a conscience that inhibits offending are more difficult.
