Figure 1 shows the profile of a transverse water wave in a shallow ripple tank as it passes a small floating toy boat.

The wave is represented by a sine curve starting at (0,0). The curve goes up to a crest of 5.0 mm at a distance of 4 cm, passes down through the horizontal axis at 8 cm, reaches a trough of -5.0 mm at 12 cm, and completes its first complete cycle where it crosses the horizontal axis at 16 cm. This sinusoidal pattern repeats: the next crest is at 20 cm, crossing the axis at 24 cm, the next trough is at 28 cm, crossing the axis at 32 cm, and another crest is at 36 cm, ending as it crosses the axis at 40 cm. The small toy boat is positioned at the crest at 20 cm.

Use the scale on the graph to find the wavelength of the wave.
