Figure 1 shows a transverse wave propagating along the surface of a pond. A lightweight plastic toy duck is floating on the water.

A small plastic toy duck is shown sitting on the water surface at the crest of the wave at 12.5 cm.

Describe the motion of the plastic toy duck as the wave passes.
