An aerospace engineer is testing different surface finishes for a satellite's passive thermal control radiator panel.

A test plate is divided into four quadrants, each with a different surface finish: matt black, shiny black, matt white, and polished silver. The plate is heated uniformly to a constant temperature of 120∘C120^\circ\text{C}120∘C inside a vacuum chamber.

An infrared radiometer probe positioned at a fixed distance is used to measure the intensity of the thermal radiation emitted from each quadrant.
