Satellite radar remote sensing systems use different microwave frequency bands to observe forested regions.

Table 1 shows the frequency ranges for three microwave bands commonly used in radar observations: C-band, S-band, and L-band.

Describe how the penetration of microwave radiation into the forest layers changes with wavelength, using information from Table 1 and Figure 1.
