A scientist on a boat uses a loudspeaker in the air to produce a sound. The sound passes from the air into the sea water. It then passes from the sea water into the steel hull of a submarine.
The Table shows the speed of sound in each material.
Table
| Material | Speed of sound in m/s\text{m/s}m/s |
|---|---|
| air | 330 |
| sea water | 1530 |
| steel | 5900 |
Explain how the speed, the frequency and the wavelength of the sound change as the sound passes from the air into the sea water and then from the sea water into the steel.
Use information from the Table in your answer.
