A light horizontal loading platform can turn about a pivot. Two loads rest on it, and each exerts a vertical downward force.

The platform is balanced. A box of weight 120 N is then placed on the platform, to the right of the pivot and 0.40 m from it. Load A is then moved along the platform until the platform is balanced again.
