A researcher is investigating the magnetic field strength of a pair of high-strength neodymium cylindrical magnets, as shown in the diagram below.

When the magnets are aligned coaxially with their north poles facing one another, the repulsive force, FFF, between them is given by the formula:

where:

  • β \beta\,β is a constant representing the magnetic properties
  • x x\,x is the separation distance between the magnets.

In one test, the magnets are held at a distance of 5.0 cm apart, and the resulting repulsive force is measured as 0.80 N.

Calculate the value of β\betaβ. State the unit for your choice of distance units.
