Figure 1 represents a laboratory demonstration apparatus consisting of a spherical plastic shell containing a strong permanent bar magnet at its center.

Figure 1 shows two magnetic compass needles already placed on the surface of the shell at points C and D.

Each compass needle is free to rotate about its central pivot.

An additional compass needle is placed at point P and another at point Q.

On Figure 1, draw an arrow at point P and an arrow at point Q to show the direction of the compass needle at each point.
