Figure 7 shows a vertical wire passing through a flat, horizontal sheet of cardboard. A current is flowing upwards through the wire.

A horizontal, square piece of cardboard is shown in an isometric view. A straight vertical wire passes through the center of the cardboard, perpendicular to its surface. An arrow on the upper section of the wire points vertically upwards and is labeled 'direction of current'.

Draw, on the cardboard in Figure 7, the magnetic field pattern produced by the current. Your drawing should:

  • show the shape of the magnetic field lines
  • show the direction of the magnetic field.
