A recycling facility uses a conveyor belt system to separate mixed copper rivets and iron nails.

The mixture is carried along a moving belt which passes over a magnetized roller, as shown in the diagram.

Bin A is positioned directly under the end of the belt. Bin B is positioned further back, underneath the underside of the magnetized roller. Copper rivets fall straight off the end of the belt into Bin A. Iron nails cling to the belt as it wraps around the magnetized roller, releasing and falling into Bin B further along.

Explain how this system separates the iron nails from the copper rivets.
