Which two poles does every magnet have?

A

Earth's magnetic field is produced by the movement of molten iron and nickel in the outer core.

B

Outside a bar magnet, field lines point from the north pole to the south pole. The field is strongest where the lines are closest together.

  • Mark the needle's north-seeking tip.
  • Move the compass tail to that mark and repeat.
  • Join the marks and arrow them north to south.
