A position sensor has a coil fixed beside a track and a magnet attached to a trolley. The trolley moves along the magnet's axis between the same two marked positions in every trial; where the direction is reversed, it travels back between those same positions. The coil connections are unchanged. The sensor records a positive potential difference when the north pole moves towards the coil.
| Trial | Pole facing the coil | Direction of trolley movement | Speed of trolley | Peak induced potential difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | North | Towards the coil | 0.20 m/s | +0.12 V |
| B | North | Towards the coil | 0.40 m/s | +0.24 V |
In trial C, the south pole faces the coil and the trolley moves away from the coil at 0.40 m/s.
Compare the peak induced potential difference in trial C with the peak induced potential difference in trial A.
