Question 37

A straight wire moves vertically downwards between the poles of a magnet in a linear generator, producing a positive voltage pulse. The magnet is then turned round so that its poles are swapped. The wire moves vertically downwards along the same path again, at a lower constant speed. The sensor connections and wire orientation remain unchanged.

Which pulse is recorded during the second movement?

[1]
A

A negative pulse with a greater peak magnitude.

B

A positive pulse with a smaller peak magnitude.

C

A negative pulse with a smaller peak magnitude.

D

A positive pulse with a greater peak magnitude.
