A scientist is investigating the thermal properties and phase transitions of a chemical compound, J, starting from its solid state.

The scientist begins with a sample of solid compound J inside a sealed crucible at an initial temperature of −20∘C-20^{\circ}\text{C}−20∘C. They supply heat to the crucible at a constant rate for 30 minutes.

Figure 1 shows a graph of the temperature of compound J over this 30-minute period.
