Question 1

A student traps a sample of gas inside a sealed syringe.

The initial pressure of the gas (P1P_1P1) is 110 kPa.

The initial volume of the gas (V1V_1V1) is 150 cm3.

The syringe plunger is slowly pushed in, keeping the temperature of the gas constant.

The new volume of the gas (V2V_2V2) is 60 cm3.

Calculate the new pressure of the gas, P2P_2P2.

Use the equation:

P2=P1×V1V2 P_2 = \frac{P_1 \times V_1}{V_2} P2=V2P1×V1
