A maintenance worker uses a rigid lever to lift an inspection cover. The cover exerts a downward force of 180 N on one end of the lever, at right angles to the lever and 0.10 m from the pivot. The worker presses down on the other side of the pivot, at right angles to the lever, either 0.60 m or 0.30 m from the pivot.

Explain why the worker must press harder at 0.30 m from the pivot than at 0.60 m to lift the cover.
